[Who is eligible to enter the Creative Awards?]

The APA Creative Awards 2008 are open to all APA members, including overseas members. Non-APA members are not eligible to enter the Awards.

[How do I enter the Creative Awards?]

The APA Creative Awards 2008 can only be entered online (www.apacreativeawards.com).
Please click on the “enter this category” button on the page of the category that you wish to submit an entry into.

The deadline for entry is Friday 9 May 2008

Please refer to General Criteria for entry specifications.
If your entry is shortlisted please submit an A3 foamex board of the creative solution by Thursday 29 May 2008. If the creative solution is offline please send two hard copies of the publication in which the entry was printed to:

[Can I submit an entry into more than one category?]

Yes, you may submit the same entry into more than one relevant category, but please complete a separate entry form, and submission statement for each entry.

It is vital that you attached the PDF of the creative solution for each entry to enable the panel to partake in the online judging stage.

[Can I submit magazines with a 2008 cover date?]

Yes. The qualifying period for entries is 1 January 2007 to 29 February 2008 (this will include covers with a Spring 2008 cover). The only exception to this rule is for the interactive/online categories, which can submit 2008 cover dates.

[Can print items other than magazines be entered into the awards?]

Print awards are not restricted exclusively to magazines. Entrants may submit any printed item created for a brand: magazine, book, brochure, catalogue or annual report. However, please make the nature of the publication clear that when submitting the entry in the relevant category.

[What is the entry criteria for online submissions?]

The online submission must have been produced between 1 January 2007 and the closing date for entries which is Friday 9 May 2008. Please ensure that you have attached a url and a complete screen shot of the online solution that you wish to be judged.

[What types of credit card are accepted?]

The APA accepts payment by MasterCard or Visa, but NOT American Express. Please ensure the following details are filled in on the entry form and on the payment confirmation form:

security number (last three digits)

name and address of card holder

Once this is completed, please ensure a payment confirmation form is sent by fax/email/post to the APA. Failure to do this may invalidate your entry.

[As an APA member is it possible to be invoiced for the cost of entry to the awards?]

The APA is unfortunately unable to invoice APA members for Creative Awards entries. Please fill in your credit card details on the entry form, or send a cheque made payable to the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA).

[If my company has entered more than one entry can I do one bulk payment?]

If you are paying by credit card, each entry must be paid for individually. However, if you are paying by cheque, you may pay for the total amount in one cheque.

Please send the cheque along with copies of the entry forms and payment confirmation forms of each category entered.

[What is the payment confirmation form?]

The payment confirmation form has been designed to ensure that all entries have been completed and uploaded to the system. You will receive confirmation that your entry has been submitted once this form is received. It is done as insurance for members entering the awards and for the APA to monitor entries.

The payment confirmation form is to be sent along with the downloadable entry form directly to the APA.

[Do the categories relate to a single example of creativity, or do they refer to the best general use across a magazine?]

The categories are designed to look at a single creative solution found within a magazine/ website, it is not the general overview of the branded solution (with the exception of categories 7 & 8 Best Overall Design Website and Magazine). You may enter the category more than once with the same issue. For the Best Original Photography and Best Original Illustration categories you may submit for entry, any one commission in a single issue.

The Best Designed Magazine and Best Designed website categories have been designed to consider the overall design concept and how individual design aspects, contribute to the overall look and flair of the creative solution.

[Can you notify us when you have received our awards entries?]

Yes, you will be notified that we have received your award submission once we have received a posted or faxed copy of the entry form and payment, and it has been successfully uploaded onto the site. Receipt of entry will be sent via email to the contact on the submission form.

[When will the winning entries be announced?]

The shortlisted entries will be announced via the APA Creative Awards website on 21 May 2008 and a press release will be sent out in the APA newsletter

The winners of the APA Creative Awards 2008 will be announced at The Chairman’s Drink Reception at The Roof Gardens on Tuesday 8th July 2008.

[When should I send the A3 foamex board of the creative solution for the second round of judging?]

Shortlisted submissions are asked to send one A3 board of the creative solution per shortlisted entry. The deadline for submitting the boards is Thursday 29 May 2008. These will be available to the judges in the final round of the judging process.

[How do I enter the overall creative solution category?]

Individual entries should not be submitted for this award. The winners of categories 1-10 will be put forward for consideration as the best overall creative solution of the year.

[Where should I send the entry forms and payment confirmation form? Where should I send the A3 foamex board, and hard copies of the publication if my entry is shortlisted?]
